Tucked away on a quiet dead-end street in West Seattle, our clients found their forever home. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the modern residence had incredible potential. What it needed was warmth, depth, and a stronger sense of character—an opportunity to create a home that felt both sophisticated and deeply personal.
For this whole-home interior design project, our goal was to soften the modern architecture while creating a refined, welcoming environment that felt connected to its surroundings. As a Seattle interior design studio, we’re often inspired by the landscape around us, and this home was no exception. The Pacific Northwest became an important source of inspiration for the design, influencing everything from the material palette and colors to the furnishings and artwork.
Inspired by the Pacific Northwest
Our approach centered on creating a luxury interior that feels grounded in its environment. Rich natural materials, warm wood tones, organic textures, and a refined palette of deep greens and blues bring the feeling of the Pacific Northwest indoors.
The earthy palette adds warmth and depth to the home while complementing its contemporary architecture. Natural wood introduces a sense of softness, while layered textiles, stone, and other organic materials create visual interest throughout the spaces. Deep greens and blues reference the surrounding landscape and views, giving the interiors a subtle connection to the natural world.
Rather than creating spaces that feel overly designed, we wanted the home to feel collected, comfortable, and timeless. Every material and finish was selected with longevity in mind, creating a balance between modern sophistication and the relaxed character of Pacific Northwest living.
Custom Details Throughout the Home
A key part of the project was creating custom elements that could respond to both the architecture and our clients’ needs. We designed custom cabinetry throughout the residence, allowing us to introduce additional functionality while giving the spaces a more tailored and cohesive appearance.
We also updated every decorative lighting fixture throughout the home. Lighting played an important role in adding warmth and atmosphere, while carefully selected fixtures helped reinforce the contemporary aesthetic and architectural details.
From finishes and furnishings to hardware and smaller architectural details, every selection was considered as part of the larger design. Our focus was on creating a natural flow from room to room so that the home feels cohesive without every space looking exactly the same.
Curating the Furnishings and Artwork
Furniture, artwork, and accessories were another important layer of the design. We curated and sourced furnishings specifically for the home, considering scale, proportion, comfort, material, and color to create spaces that feel both elevated and livable.
Artwork was thoughtfully sourced to complement the architecture and overall palette. We looked for pieces that would add personality while naturally integrating with the surrounding materials and furnishings. Rather than treating artwork and accessories as finishing touches, we considered them an integral part of the design from the beginning.
The result is a home that feels personal and collected, with each piece contributing to the overall story of the space.
A Timeless Approach to Seattle Interior Design
One of the most rewarding aspects of this West Seattle interior design project was finding the balance between the home’s modern architecture and the warmth our clients wanted to bring into it. By layering natural materials, custom millwork, sophisticated furnishings, and meaningful artwork, we were able to create interiors that feel contemporary without sacrificing comfort.
The finished residence celebrates Pacific Northwest living in a way that feels understated and timeless. It is warm without being rustic, refined without feeling formal, and contemporary while still feeling welcoming.
For us, the best luxury interiors are ultimately about more than beautiful materials. They are about creating spaces that work beautifully for the people who live in them and feel connected to the architecture, landscape, and lifestyle surrounding them.
This West Seattle home is a reflection of that approach—thoughtful space planning, custom cabinetry, elevated materials, carefully curated furnishings, and timeless interior design brought together to create a home our clients can enjoy for years to come. Check out the rest of the project here.
